Well it looks like our host, Network 54, was not able to make it work with just the banners they added last year... annoying as they were, they were understandable and tolerable.
Anyway, now they have this new and impossible pop-up, which warns that one should sign up for some sort of new N54 password or whatever... but it also seems to imply that it will install some sort of spyware or adware which will occasionally created targeted pop-up ads... independently any sites you are viewing at the time.
Of course this is totally unacceptable. For the time being, to work around it, press "back" when it appears, then "forward again", then "stop". This seems to eliminate this window so that you can view the forum. If you think of pressing "stop" as soon as the forum loads, this may help, too. But I cannot recommend downloading N54's adware... they obviously are not looking out for our best interests... and adware of any kind should be avoided at all costs anyway.
Because of this, I am (finally) going to look for a forum host which is better (they are all better), and which will work for us, and which will honor thier agreements with thier users... which N54 seems to have an awful lot of trouble doing. I'll try to do this before N54 blocks access to this forum. And when I do, I will post the new URL here, and keep this forum up for archive purposes. Thanks... Rich SantaColoma, forum moderator.
