Building my own ice boat, the second one this will be. I have obtained 20 ft alum mast and sail set up off some sort of boat, ~90sq feet. 16ft long, 12 ft wide, semi enclosed body under the boom, think early skeeter. hoping to hit some high speeds. For the plank, I'm wondering on construction techniques. what sort of woods are typically used? how to laminate so it'll stay true. or is there a kind of wood I could use that I could just take a good 2x10 and go? For the runners, I've heard spring steel? stainless? whats a good thickness to use? Now I think DN runners are 36" long, Would this be good for the larger sail area? I'll be sailing on hard ice, any numbers for inches true flat and such? or is this mostly trial and error? thanks for any help! I can't wait for my lake to freeze over...
later
