First off get your side runners parallel to each other so the boat glides almost efertlessly with a small push. Next your runners should all be on pivots not fixed in place.Your runner should also be sharpened at a V angle (45degrees). you said you used a small sail,you need a large sail for light wind, your small sail is working like it should in heavey wind.
