If no one specifically takes you up on your offer ove the net, the next best thing would be to show up where there is some iceboating activity. Iceboaters are a friendly bunch, and I'm sure someone would take you for a ride. If you have a helmut with you, carry it around and look sad!
As for finding a place, go to the various sites and forums of the different clubs, and see where the conditions are good and the action is. Rich.
